AI Job Openings Have Skyrocketed And So Have Their Salaries.

Some folks think AI is overhyped.

This may be true regarding mainstream usage. Search interest for ChatGPT dropped in BOTH July and August.

However, businesses certainly don’t think AI is overhyped at all. Here's how we know: the demand for AI talent is greater than ever (by far):

And companies are willing to pay handsomely for those who really know their sh*t (a recent Netflix AI job went viral for its $900k salary tag).

Interestingly, the number of people identifying as “AI talent” has also skyrocketed.

A LinkedIn report found that users added AI-related terms like “ChatGPT” and “Prompt Engineering” to their profiles 15x more in June than in January.

But as more professionals label themselves as "AI talent," companies will have to determine which "AI skills" are genuinely relevant.

Here’s our take: Hard skills like AI Engineering (think: you can actually build AI systems and products) are underhyped. Soft skills like being an above-average prompt engineer are overhyped.
