Welcome, humans.

Using AI at work is a bit like embarking on an office romance: you question if it's a good idea, you're reluctant to tell your boss, and you're curious about who else is doing the same thing.

Hereā€™s what you need to know about AI today:

  • 82% of American adults have never used ChatGPT.
  • ChatGPT usage for work has increased by 33% since March.
  • OpenAI is on pace to take in $1 billion in revenue in the upcoming year.
  • Snapchat launched its AI selfie tool called ā€œDreamsā€.

Most Americans Donā€™t Use ChatGPT And Think Theyā€™ll Never Need it.

Vox.

You probably think that youā€™re smarter, hotter, and a superior prompt engineer than most. We all do. Welcome to the club of overconfidence bias.

Youā€™re probably also overconfident re: AI.

According to fresh Pew research, American adults across all ages think AI will impact other jobs more than their own job.

And only 5% of adults anticipate that chatbots to be extremely useful for their work. This ā€œAI wonā€™t effect meā€ vibe isnā€™t surprising when you consider that just 18% of American adults have ever actually used ChatGPT.

Itā€™s an outrage! Itā€™s a scandal! Itā€™s ā€¦ just how things are.

To be fair, ChatGPT usage for work has increased 33% from March to July. So maybe, just maybe, those ā€œChatGPT is deadā€ fears are unfounded.

Some quick hits from the survey:

  • ages 18-29 are way more likely to use ChatGPT.
  • college-educated folks use ChatGPT more for work.
  • more people use ChatGPT for entertainment and learning than for work.

Why it matters: For those of us living in The Neuron-land (yes, thatā€™s you), itā€™s crucial to remember that AI hasnā€™t his mainstream adoption ā€¦ yet.

OpenAI Is Set To Make >$1 Billion Next Year.

OpenAI, the brain behind ChatGPT, is expected to make over $1 billion in revenue over the next 12 months, according to The Information.

Hey Uncle Sam, welcome to the three commas club!

Sure, $1 billion might not be jaw-dropping by Big Tech standards (hello, Googleā€™s $290 billion), but it is quite impressive for a startup that only started monetizing just six months ago.

It also completely debunks the ā€œOpenAI is going bankruptā€ story that went viral last month, which claimed that ChatGPT costs $700,000/day to run ā€¦ which would only be a problem is OpenAI wasnā€™t pulling in $2.7 million daily.

Why it matters: OpenAIā€™s financial success is proof that AI isnā€™t just a fadā€”itā€™s here to stay. And people are willing to pay for it, especially for work.

We expect revenue to soar once OpenAI drops ChatGPT Enterprise and other B2B-focused services!
