Welcome, humans.

For those who missed it on LinkedIn, we published our ChatGPT Zero To Power User Cheat Sheet on our website.

Check it out and let us know what you think!

Here’s what’s going on in AI today:

  • McKinsey published a 68-page report on generative AI.
  • A study found that GPT-4 wrote better pitches than humans.
  • Draft legislation of the EU AI Act was passed.
  • Walmart, LinkedIn, and Meta are all launching internal AI “playgrounds”.

GPT-4 Outperforms Humans On Pitch Decks 🧑‍🏫

At first, we thought this article was from The Onion. “GPT-4 Outperforms Humans in Pitch Deck Effectiveness.”

There was no way AI could tell a more compelling story than humans filled with emotional baggage, right? Right?!

Wrong. VC firm Clarify Capital had hundreds of investors rate pitch decks written by a/ humans and b/ GPT-4.

Investors were:

  • 3x more likely to tag GPT-4 decks as "high quality”
  • 3x more likely to invest in the GPT pitch decks.

And these stats were consistent for pitches across finance, marketing, and finance!

Sure, GPT-4 won’t be presenting in Shark Tank anytime soon, but ChatGPT could be a major secret weapon for anyone pitching an idea, proposal, or product at work.

Here’s a cheat sheet for ya:

  1. Be crystal clear about what you want (e.g., we need more investment).
  2. Feed ChatGPT successful pitches (e.g., watch this Steve Jobs keynote).
  3. Specify target audience and tone (e.g., marketing director, persuasive tone).

Run Faster Generative Models At A Fraction Of The Cost With OctoML

Most developer tools can sound like that friend who brags about gym gains but, when it comes time to perform, they have muscle for “show,” not muscles for “go.”

Remember OctoML, the fastest way to run, optimize, and scale generative AI models? They put LLaMA 65B to the test on their platform.

Spoiler: they crushed it, delivering 1/5 the cost and 37% faster than alternative endpoint solutions.. Check out their report card here.

Now, go put their performance to the test: OctoML is handing out 12 free GPU hours for developers who register and set up their endpoint on OctoML.

The catch: the deal only applies to the first 500 sign-ups. Sign up for OctoML (now publicly available)!

Important Insights From McKinsey’s Automation Report 👇

Okay, fine: AI probably didn’t whip up this 68-page report on the state of automation.

It’s become clear that generative AI will hit knowledge workers big time, but a new McKinsey report sheds light on the types of knowledge workers that’ll see the most impact.

Put simply, AI will invade jobs with a clear ‘if-this-then-that.’ The types of broad types of jobs that you could train a remote summer intern how to do:

  • dealing with customers.
  • creating marketing content
  • executing sales funnels.
  • software engineering tasks.

There are more layers to this AI onion, especially when we talk about the specific functions that AI can handle within these areas.

But three industries that will derive the most value from automating these functions are banking, CPG, & pharma. A random group, we know.

A few quick hits from this (way too long) PDF:

  • AI could massively boost labor productivity.
  • Automation will be faster in developed countries.
  • AI with “social and emotional” expertise is coming way sooner than we thought.

Around the Horn 🦄

  • Over 1/3 of Amazon’s Mechanical Turk users used AI to complete tasks intended to be done by humans.
  • The European Parliament voted to pass draft legislation of the EU AI Act with an overwhelming majority.
  • A market map of generative AI companies with foundational models.
  • A group of researchers published a paper explaining the problematic feedback loop of AI training itself on AI content.
  • Walmart, LinkedIn, and Meta are all launching internal generative AI “playgrounds” so employees can experiment with AI.
  • Two senators are pushing a bill arguing that generative AI does not qualify for immunity under Section 230.

Treats To Try 🍿

  • Uizard’s Autodesigner is a text-to-design tool that generates mockups for apps and sites.
  • Fini lets you turn your knowledge base into a chatbot that integrates w/ Slack, Discord, and Intercom.
  • Scalenut automates your entire SEO workflow from researching to writing to optimizing.
  • Lit Codes is ChatGPT with access to the internet (you need an API key).
