Businesses Want To Invest In AI, But Most Don’t Have The Money For It 💰
Most businesses know they should invest in AI soon. Over half are already tinkering with AI.
But ONLY 18.2% of organizations have actually implemented AI in their day-to-day operations.
Why?
AI is expensive. It’s also intimidating. It’s like signing up for a new gym.
The two most common challenges businesses face are:
- limited talent & resources for AI.
- insufficient support from leaders.
It’s no surprise that 82% of companies don’t expect to invest more money into AI over the next year.
Why it matters: The reluctance to spend on AI could pose a challenge for companies offering AI solutions. Like Microsoft and Google.
Both companies emphasized on their earnings calls that the appetite for AI solutions is set to be a huge growth driver, but this all depends on how when companies are actually ready to spend.
Microsoft’s CFO even admitted that sales from AI products would roll in at a “gradual” pace.

OpenAI Shut Down Its AI Detection Tool 🕵
Created using Midjourney!
Even AI can’t tell when something is written by ChatGPT or not.
In January, OpenAI launched a tool to “sniff out” AI writing. But it quickly ditched the project after finding that the algorithm could only flag 26% of AI-generated writing. Yikes!
Turnitin? Unreliable. GPTZero? Ditto. Same with digital watermarking.
This spells a serious problem for businesses and educators trying to authenticate whether something is real. Some teachers have overly relied on these detectors leading them to tools unfairly punish some students.
So is there a solution?
For accurately detecting AI-generated text 100% of the time? Nope.
AI is getting so strong at writing that it will eventually be impossible to detect. Plus, anyone can simply tweak an AI’s output to make it sound “more human.”
For now, a more effective strategy might be to promote the responsible use of AI. This means teaching students and employees:
- when AI can supplement human writing.
- when it is ethical to use AI.
- how to check AI text for errors.
