Welcome, humans.
This Reddit API controversy is crazy. I guess AI really is here to shake things up.
Here’s what’s going on in the world of AI today:
- ChatGPT Plugins have underwhelmed users so far.
- Meta is opening access to LLaMA for companies.
- People in China are more optimistic about AI than people in the US.
- We curated a bunch of awesome job opportunities in AI!

An Update On ChatGPT Plugins: Only A Few Are Sticking 🥜
When ChatGPT plugins launched, people thought everyone would start using popular apps inside of ChatGPT.
But so far, the Plugins verdict is decidedly … meh. Using them is janky, and it’s harder to find an excellent plugin than Waldo.
This isn’t surprising per se. Most of the apps on the App Store stink. But we still manage to spend all day playing Candy Crush.
We did stumble upon a cool plugin yesterday called Bardeen. It’s a user-friendly Zapier (which we also love) that automates tasks across your workflows.
Simply download the plugin → grant it access to your apps → instruct it to move or compile information. A few use cases:
- Scrape LinkedIn users who commented on your post into a GSheet (Bardeen pulled this off for one of Pete’s bangers!).
- Track trending topics (e.g., “Get tweets for a keyword and save to GSheet).
- Summarize information and send it to colleagues in Slack.
Why it matters: We’ll continue to dig through the new plugins to find ones worth your time. As for now, we’re seeing the most utility from AI integrations slipping into existing products (and not vice versa).
P.S. respond to this email and let us know what plugins you’re finding most helpful!

LLaMA For Companies Coming Soon 🔜
Three months back, Meta’s open-source model “LLaMA” was leaked. It soon became the leading open-source foundational model, creating an avalanche of innovative research projects.
Now, Meta is gearing up to let companies use LLaMA.
This has three major implications:
- Great for companies that roll out custom models on top of LLaMA for their own products (while making money, of course).
- Great for Meta. Developers use their code → their models improve → better models to integrate into products like Facebook.
- Not great for Google & OpenAI, whose models are still closed-source.
Why it matters: LLaMA is just below GPT-3.5 capabilities, but the ability to fine-tune models could lead to a wave of LLaMA-powered products in the market.
Or maybe Zuck is just fishing for more of our juicy data, we’ll never know!
