Welcome, humans.
So who else spent their Sunday ChatGPT-ing “WTF is a room-temperature superconductor”?! 🙋🤫
Here’s what’s going on in AI today:
- European AI companies are falling behind.
- AI learns better from documentation than examples.
- Apple & Amazon are all in on AI.
- NASA & IBM open-sourced a model to monitor climate change.

Europe’s AI Landscape (& Why It’s A Problem) 🇪🇺
The US is miles ahead of Europe in the AI game. More startups. More funding.
Europe lagging in tech isn’t anything new … but for AI, it could spell real trouble.
See, the EU doesn’t want its companies using AI models that break their rules. And guess what: not one American foundational model (like GPT, LLaMA, etc) passes the EU AI Act’s rules.
So what’s the solution here?
European AI companies that stick to the EU’s playbook. Yet, no standout contenders have emerged just yet. Your leading competitors:
- Aleph Alpha, that German startup that is still training its ChatGPT competitor.
- Mistral AI, a Paris-based startup that bagged $113 million in funding for a website with only 31 words. Seriously.
Why it matters: The EU AI Act will probably pass. This could be a huge opportunity for European AI companies to step up and offer services that align with privacy rules and offer companies control over their data.
And hey, a big salute to our 27.2% European audience. We appreciate you from across the pond!

If you’ve ever thought, “AI could probably help me do ______”, here’s your answer:
MindStudio makes it easy to build and customize AI apps, like chatbots and much more, with absolutely no code.
You can build an app powered by GPT-4 or Claude 2 that gives financial advice or crafts blogs tailored to your writing style
And once you build your app, you can:
- Share it far and wide with your unique AI link.
- Blast it out on YouAi’s app store
- Profit from it if people dig what you’ve built.

Tell, Don’t Show AI How To Do Something ✋
We dug through a 10,000-word research paper and here’s what we found:
- AI was told to learn 6 new skills.
- In group #1, an AI was handed "instruction manuals" to pick up new skills.
- In group #2, an AI was presented with "examples" to follow.
It’s the age-old “tell me how” vs. “show me how.”
RESULT: AI gets the hang of things faster when you “tell it” how, rather than when you “show it” how.
What this matters (for you): Whenever using AI at work, offer it context on how to do something rather than just feeding it examples. This might include:
- API or library documentation.
- User guides for in-house tools like Salesforce.
- Company rulebooks (policies, regulations).
If your document exceeds ChatGPT’s input limits, try to throw some of it in custom instructions or opt for Claude which offers way longer context windows.
Around the Horn 🦄
- Apple is integrating AI into “every product that [they] build.” Likewise, every team at Amazon is working on generative AI.
- Salesforce is launching Einstein Studio which lets enterprises train their AI models on data in Salesforce.
- NASA and IBM released an AI model to monitor climate change effects.
- Zoom will train its AI on user content, according to a change in its terms of service.
- Humans detect AI speech only 73% of the time, according to a study.
Treat To Try 🍿
We’re waiting for the day when AI can execute multi-step tasks in our browser, like:
- Skim Twitter and summarize threads.
- Unsubscribe from promotional newsletters.
- Pull data from Excel and send it in Slack.
Personal Assistant by HyperWrite is version 0.0.1 of this (their words, not ours). A tad slow and glitchy, but super impressive when it works. It’s cool to watch an AI plan out what it needs to do.
