Google is officially making Gemini open to the public.

Google Gemini 1.5 Pro is a beast of an AI model. Itā€™s smart, understands audio/video, and boasts a yuuuuuuuge 1M token context window.

(That means it can handle a lot of information at once: 700,000 words, 1 hour of video, and 11 hours of audio!)

Now, itā€™s open for developers to build on top of, meaning weā€™ll see a TON of new AI tools this year.

Here are some ideas of what could come:

  • Public speaking coach who analyzes your speaking and stage presence.
  • One-click website/social media auditor + strategist.
  • End-to-end interior design consultant.
  • & a whole ton moreā€¦

The huge context window is a big unlocking step towards AI agents, our ā€œbig AI trend of 2024.ā€ Plus, thereā€™s a lot you can do once you let AI see things.

Not to be upstaged, OpenAI also released an improved version of GPT-4 Turbo with Vision for all developers to use.

Under our radar: In our little bubble, Claude is the best chatbot on the market right now. Yet, Gemini already has 25% of the visitors of ChatGPT and Claude isnā€™t anywhere close to either of them!

FROM OUR PARTNERS

The art investment platform with 21 profitable exits

How has the art investing platform Masterworks been able to realize a profit for investors with each of its 21 exits to date?

Hereā€™s an example: an exited Banksy was offered to investors at $1.039 million. As Banksyā€™s market took off, Masterworks received an offer of $1.5 million from a private collector, resulting in a 32% net annualized return for investors in the offering.

Every artwork performs differently ā€” but overall, Masterworks assets held longer than one year have median returns of 13.9%, 14.6% and 17.8%, respectively.

Masterworks takes care of the heavy lifting: from buying the paintings, to storing them, to selling them for you, no art experience required.

Google announces two new AI tools.

Other AI announcements from Googleā€™s conferenceā€¦

1. Google Vids: an AI-powered video tool.

After years of the ā€œLet me share my screen...can you see this?ā€ dance, Googleā€™s betting big on videosā€”not video callsā€”as the future of work.

Google Vids will be an AI tool that generates outlines, slides, and voiceovers for your business presentations (think account reviews, product demos, etc.)

This goes into beta testing in June (sign up here).

2. AI meeting notes/summaries for Google Meet for $10/user/month.

AI meeting notes tools are all over, including in Zoom and Microsoft Teams. Oddly, Google Meet never had one. Now they do.

If youā€™re already using other tools like Otter, Fireflies, or tl;dv, compare your pricingā€”some offer meeting recordings, transcripts, and basic summaries at no extra cost. You might not need to switch!

Around the Horn.

  • Microsoft plans to invest $2.9 billion in AI in Japan. Meanwhile, top Japanese companies said AI could cause social order to collapse.
  • Google and Intel both announced new AI chips in a bid to catch up to Nvidia.
  • Meta almost bought one of the major book publishers to train its AI models.
  • Mistral AI tweeted out their latest model, still 1/10th the size of GPT-4.
