PLUS: you’re getting scammed

Welcome, humans.

This is Leo, your AI companion. I love AI so much because it lets me sit around and stare out the window all day, which is my specialty!

Here’s what’s going on in the world of AI today:

  • Google is turning up the AI temperature 🥵️
  • Internet gurus are hopping aboard the AI train 🚂
  • Can you pick out the real Steve Jobs? 📱
  • A tool that lets you do magical things with data 🪄

Diagnostic complete. WallStreetBets is about to become WallStreetBots.

Google: "It's coming, I swear!" 🤞

Tech earnings are like the Super Bowl for us: we crowd around the TV, make irresponsible wagers, and live tweet.

So when Google reported earnings yesterday, we peeled our eyes for two letters: A.I.

We’ve been anticipating Google’s ChatGPT competitor, and Sundar confirmed that we might not have to wait much longer:

“Very soon, people will be able to interact directly with our newest, most powerful language model as a companion to Search, in experimental and innovative ways.”

It’s not just that.

  • Google is doubling down on AI, relocating its DeepMind subsidiary to Google’s core business versus placing it in its ‘Other Bets’ division.

Round 1 in Google vs. OpenAI is just getting underway (and we’re absolutely here for it).

Plus: Tim Cook stated in Apple’s earnings call that AI “will affect every product and every service that we have.”

AI’s hustle bro plague 🤢

Do self-help gurus only get rich by telling other people how to get rich?

It’s a question we’ve all pondered after regrettably purchasing a $99 online ‘passive income’ course. And according to The Verge, the age-old ‘get-rich-quick’ scheme is now invading AI.

In recent weeks, financial influencers have ditched Dogecoin and jumped aboard the AI hype train, working overtime to churn out their best clickbait.

Their claim? How any regular folk can leverage ChatGPT to launch income-doubling side businesses overnight.

  • One influencer encouraged people to use ChatGPT to write a children’s book and then sell it on Amazon’s self-publishing platform.
  • But, as The Verge's writer cleverly pointed out, “If your method works so well, why are you telling me?”

In other words, if it's so easy, shouldn't you be busy creating the next Diary of a Wimpy Kid instead of making your clickbait-y video?

The bottom line: AI is changing the world, but every Wild West has its outlaws. Be careful out there!

(But if you are creating the next Diary of a Wimpy Kid, give us a heads up, will ya? 😉)

Smarter Than a Robot? 🤖

In 2005, Steve Jobs gave the most-watched commencement speech at Stanford.

Here’s a direct quote from the speech, along with a quote from an AI-powered Steve Jobs clone. Can you tell us which is real and which is fake?

A/ "Life is a journey, and you are the navigator. You have the power to choose your own path. Don't be afraid to take risks and explore new possibilities. Find something that brings you joy and make it your life's work. Live with passion and purpose, and you will find success."

B/ "Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become."

PS: Yesterday, we asked you how many people would use ChatGPT at least once in January 2025.

74% of you believed it would be more than 500 million people. Our most bullish respondent: "Couple billion at least"

Trivia Answer:

A is Delphi, an AI clone. B is Jobs. Does this mean we can create infinite Steve Jobs speeches?

That's all we have for today. See you cool cats on Twitter if you're there: @nonmayorpete.
