GPT-4 Might Actually Be Eight Smaller Models In One 🍡
Created using Midjourney!
Ever have one of those mornings where the details of last night’s epic outing are up for debate? Well, that’s exactly what’s happening in AI.
The story is pretty technical, but we’ll break it down for ya geezers.
Most people believed GPT-4 was one massive model with 1 trillion parameters (a.k.a. training data), 6x larger than GPT-3.
Turns out, GPT-4 might actually be eight smaller, specialized models stacked together like a Lego tower. It’s like our brain, which doesn’t operate as a single entity but as a bunch of parts working together!
2, 4, 6, 8, who really cares? GPT-4 is blowing our minds.
The key takeaway here: OpenAI is hush-hush about their models. While these rumors aren’t verified, they do offer big clues for other companies aiming to develop competing models, particularly those in the open-source space.
We’re hoping the next ‘Lego piece’ ChatGPT adds is one that can actually crunch numbers!

Dropbox Wants To Build A Search Engine For Enterprises 🔎
You know how some older folks turn to “vaping” or “Instagram” to feel young again? That’s Dropbox, but with AI (just kidding).
The file-hosting software announced a trio of AI initiatives as it attempts to integrate AI into its primary software offerings.
The bullseye: “Dropbox AI”, a feature that can summarize and extract info from your files. Super, super helpful for sifting thru documents.
The question-mark: “Dropbox Dash”, an enterprise search engine with the intention of finding any content across all of your work apps: Outlook, Salesforce, Notion, etc. Search is a startup category littered with failed attempts - will Dash pull it off?
The eye-catcher: “Dropbox Ventures”, a $50 million venture fund dedicated to AI.
There’s no question that Dropbox wants in on the AI convo. The real question is: are these product launches just nice-to-haves or saviors for its stock ($DBX), which has been flat since its 2018 IPO?
