Here’s what you need to know about AI today:

  • Sam Altman predicts that ChatGPT will continue to improve significantly.
  • We've outlined a three-step guide to make your company "AI forward."
  • 36% of people think AI will replace their current job in the next 5 years.
  • Mistral is aiming to secure "hundreds of millions of dollars" at a $5B valuation.

Sam Altman on how to stay relevant in the AI revolution.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman shared important advice for startups and enterprises: assume ChatGPT will get much better from here on out.

For startups, this translates to building something that won’t be made obsolete by a better ChatGPT. Otherwise, ChatGPT-5 will “steamroll” you (in Uncle Sam’s own words).

For enterprises, it's about crafting your AI strategy with GPT-5/6/7 in mind, and continuously exploring the latest models and tools.

Sam shared another tip on his 20VC podcast appearance: start deploying AI across your company NOW, even if its immediate application seems unclear.

Think of it as mining for gold: the initial ROI may be murky, but you need to excavate with the tools available to discover what AI can do (trust us, it’s a lot).

Then, assess its impact on speed, quality, creativity, and employee productivity—not just on cost savings.

Altman and OpenAI COO Brad Lightcap shared a bunch of insights on how businesses can stay ahead of the AI era—check out their full interview here:

AI vs. humans.

When historians look back on AI, they’ll pinpoint 2023 as THE YEAR when AI caught up to human IQ in many areas.

2023 was the year ChatGPT-4 passed the Bar Exam, the US Medical Licensing Exam, and the GRE.

And according to Stanford 2023 AI Index, a 500-page report tracking 2023’s global AI trends, AI language models reached human-level performance (or near) on many important benchmarks in 2023, including:

  • reading comprehension.
  • visual reasoning.
  • competition-level mathematics.

Just because AI matches human smarts in various fields doesn't mean it'll immediately replace us (check out our rebuttal to John Stewart’s automation doom-and-gloom).

Also from the AI Index: 36% of people believe AI will replace their current job in the next 5 years. That’s high!

Thursday Trivia.

Products often look better in ads than in real life (side-eye at Taco Bell). AI-generated product specs will only amplify this effect.

One glance, everyone knows the rules: one OliPop image used CreatorKit’s AI background, and the other is real.

Which is which?

A Cat's Commentary.

Trivia Answer: The left used a CreatorKit AI background, and the right is real.
