Welcome, humans.

Wow, we can’t believe the 2024 Olympics are over… did y’all see the closing ceremony when Tom Cruise jumped into the arena?

That was almost as crazy as the person who took two Advanced Voice Mode GPTs and had them insult each other on loop…

As someone in the comments said, you just need two more, and you have a Call of Duty multiplayer lobby!

Can you imagine playing online games with a bunch of AIs that can cuss you out just like 12 year olds can today?!

Here’s what you need to know about AI today:

  • OpenAI's "anonymous-chatbot" passed the “Strawberry” test.
  • ElevenLabs partnered with celebrity estates for AI-voiced audiobook app.
  • Apple may charge $10-$20/month for premium AI features.
  • A study found widespread errors in medical summaries from GPT-4 and Llama 3.

Could OpenAI’s new “anonymous-chatbot” actually be GPT-5? Here’s what we found…

Remember last week when we told you about Sam Altman’s mysterious strawberry tweet and the new “anonymous-chabot” that showed up in the LMSYS Chatbot arena?

Many X commenters speculated this new bot could be GPT-5, codenamed “Strawberry.” And if this bot showed up on the same day? It’s gotta be a sign.

If this new model really is Strawberry, it’s a big deal because Strawberry is supposed to be the model that reaches “Level 2” of OpenAI’s AGI roadmap, which signifies AI that can “reason.”

So we hunted it down. And after a few tests, we got anonymous-chatbot to show up in the arena.

Our actual chat with anonymous-chatbot!

Sounds “reasonable” to us. However, it's hard to draw conclusions from one question, so we rounded up what the internet had to say.

Reviews are mixed:

  • Some see it as a potential Strawberry drop with improved logic.
  • Others think it’s a minor upgrade to ChatGPT 4o, with little evidence of “reasoning.”
  • Sometimes it performs better than other models; sometimes testers prefer others.

Some commenters even think ChatGPT might have already received a secret upgrade.

On that point—there was a new upgrade on August 6th, but many think anonymous-chatbot performs better than the 08-06 version.

So how’s the reasoning? Early signs are positive.

Anonymous-chatbot claims to use "chain-of-thought reasoning," a technique we highly recommend using in your prompts that breaks complex problems into smaller parts.

Anonymous-chatbot explaining its reasoning…

For example, to count how many times “s” appears in the word “Mississippi”, Anonymous-chatbot explained its “thought” process like so:

  1. It first identified all the characters.
  2. Then it counted the “s” characters.
  3. And then it listed out where each “s” was located.

When will this be available? If it's OpenAI's new frontier model, it won't launch at the company’s October DevDay. However, based on past releases, we could see a new ChatGPT model by the third week of August.
