Bing Is About To See Major Upgrades 🔎
We haven’t seen a glow-up this pronounced since Jeff Bezos got ripped.
Microsoft just announced some significant upgrades to Bing’s AI-powered search engine, and we’ve got the inside scoop!
First, Bing is launching multimodal support. This means Bing can support charts, graphs, and other image/video formats (😻) instead of just text.
Other cool features include permanent chat history, export and share functionalities, and Bing in your Edge sidebar.
The biggest news is Bing Plugins. Developers will soon be able to build on top of Bing with third-party plugins, like using an OpenTable plugin to book a reservation or Wolfram Alpha to answer math questions.
Sound familiar? That’s because ChatGPT Plugins intend to let you do the same exact thing. Are you thinking what I’m thinking?
While Microsoft refers to OpenAI as its “partner,” it’s become obvious that these teams are not instructed to coordinate but rather compete head-on.
Why it matters: OpenAI needs Microsoft’s cloud and capital, Microsoft needs OpenAI’s model. But outside of that, the two teams seem to be going at each other quite directly. That’s kinda weird!
