AI Controversies Top Headlines (& Billboards) 🎶
Chances are you've already heard about the highly contentious AI-generated song featuring Drake and The Weeknd by now:
A TikTok user called "Ghostwriter" used AI to create a song that sounded exactly like the duo. People ate it up (>20 million views in 2 days!) and even debated if it was the real artists running a promotion.
But then, in typical Drake fashion, controversy emerged: Universal Music Group, which represents both artists, flagged the content as infringing upon intellectual property. The song quickly disappeared from Spotify and Apple Music.
But it hasn't just been pop stars getting tangled up in AI drama recently.
- Tom Brady is threatening to sue two comedians for publishing an hour-long AI comedy special that used the quarterback's voice.
- Likewise, Michael Schumacher's family is planning to sue a German magazine for releasing a deepfake video interview featuring the former racing driver.
Why it matters: Anyone with a likeness worth impersonating is going to get the AI treatment. And armies of IP lawyers are drooling over the cash they'll make suing the impersonators, even if the projects are just for fun.
In the meantime: "Hey Siri, queue God's Plan by (the real) Drake!"
"She say, 'Do you love me?' I tell her, 'Only partly' 🎶 I only love my bed and The Neuron, I'm sorry" 🎶
Introducing ChatGPT For Healthcare: Dr. Gupta 🥼
The most hated man in America wants you to say goodbye to best guesses surrounding your health.
The formerly imprisoned CEO and Twitch star Martin Shkreli returns with his latest and greatest hit, Dr. Gupta, "the world's first physician chatbot."
Dr. Gupta is a GPT-powered virtual doctor who can answer any medical questions. The premise is that AI can sift through vast amounts of publicly available medical research and reduce healthcare costs simultaneously.
It's an excellent idea in theory ... but: ChatGPT is notorious for acting confident while wrong. What happens when the wrong advice hurts a patient?
Another challenge is that this business (copilot for doctors) is heavily regulated. Countless companies are working on similar projects and will likely face rejection by the FDA (aka Frequently Denying Approvals).
Bottom line: Language models are poised to massively democratize access to healthcare information, but we're not quite ready to put our lives in the hands of Dr. Gupta just yet.
