+1 on this. AI will power so many applications but we’ll have no idea cause it’ll be cookin’ on the backend. Think of it like the salt of the internet: making everything taste good but not mentioned in any dishes.

Elon’s ChatGPT Rival Is Finally Here.

Elon Musk’s ChatGPT alternative “Grok” is finally here—for cozy friends and insiders, of course.

Grok is somewhere in between ChatGPT-3 and GPT-3.5 in capability.

So while impressively efficient having just been trained on 33B parameters over two months, Grok is definitely a ways behind ChatGPT-4.

But it’s pretty darn unique from anything we’ve seen.

For one, it has a stand-out personality. Like, the type of energy you get at a NYC comedy club at 2am (see here for proof). So Grok definitely sounds the most humanlike from any chatbot we’ve seen, which is a +1.

It’s also an open book, designed to answer “almost anything.” This diverges from ChatGPT's very cautious approach to potentially harmful content—a point Musk has vocally criticized.

It pulls the latest info from Elon’s other playground X/Twitter so you get real-time information. Clever. Conveniently, Grok is currently available to anyone paying $16/month for X Premium+.

Here’s our take: It’s never a bad idea to doubt Elon Musk latest ambitious projects—at least not publicly—but Grok is starting way behind in the race considering GPT-3 was trained half a decade ago.

The real-time knowledge via X Twitter is definitely a pro, but it has a lot of work to do to catch up to ChatGPT-4’s IQ and reasoning.

Grok will also be making its way into Teslas, so users can feel sustainable while cheffing up cocaine in the back seat!
