Zoom’s New Data Collection Policy Sparks Backlash! 🎥
In March, Zoom updated its terms of service.
The key change: every user now allows Zoom to tap into their data (think meetings, private convos, face recognition) to improve its AI algorithms.
People just found out and they’re MAD. Well, Twitter-ranting-mad.
From Zoom’s POV, this isn’t anything new. In June, it launched AI features to summarize meetings. To activate the features, users consented to hand over their data under the guise of “Zoom IQ product improvement.”
While the language varies, Microsoft seems to do the same thing. So does OpenAI. And let's be real, most consumer apps out there (not to say this makes it okay).
Why it matters: In the end, it’s mostly about optics.
Businesses are very concerned about using AI software that snoops on their data. Given Zoom’s past snafus (throwback to Zoom-bombing!), users might be tempted to test alternatives like Whereby or revert to Microsoft Teams.
Our tip for businesses concerned about privacy: turn off data sharing across your software suite. Here's your how-to for Zoom.

The Prisoner’s Dilemma, AI Style 👇
Made using Midjourney!
AI is about to make both hiring and applying for jobs way easier.
For hiring: recruiters now have the tools to draft job postings that only attract the right candidates. All it takes is a quick prompt to ChatGPT (how-to) or LinkedIn’s AI-powered job description generator.
It’s also never been easier to sift through endless candidates. HireEZ has you covered.
For applying: In seconds, platforms like Wonsulting AI can tweak your resume and cover letter to make them a perfect match for that dream job.
Why it matters: Companies might be able to fine-tune job postings, but they’re about to get hit with an avalanche of applications from folks claiming to be “perfect for the job.”
Our take? Personal branding and networking will be even more important to land an interview in the first place. Plus, interviews will have to go deeper to capture the insights they’re after.
