đŸ˜ș Copilot = AI everywhere

PLUS: Humanity's last exam...

Welcome, humans.

People on Reddit are trying to test o1-preview’s reasoning, and the results are hilarious (includes profanity, FYI). Or take this request for example:

The coolest things people are doing with o1 are still games, IMO. Like this demo from someone who got o1 to build a playable game of chess against a working AI opponent.

Or this person who made a 3D FPS game entirely in HTML (so it works on the web). The person who made it had literally no coding skills, and just asked for code they could copy + paste and run in the browser.

To quote Reddit: “Now I’m even more impressed.”

Here’s what you need to know about AI today:

  • Microsoft’s new Copilot tools point to a future of “AI everywhere.”
  • Slack introduced a new paid tier to become an AI-powered work OS hub.
  • Redditors uncovered "Fluxmaxxing” trend in FLUX-generated people.
  • Scale AI announced plans to create “Humanity’s Last Exam” (and stump o1).

Microsoft Copilot and why the future of AI is learning how to direct AI everywhere all the time.

There’s a post on X that went viral today (3.8M views and counting). It goes like this: the poster sat next to a woman from a top consulting firm on a plane. She was making a deck for a Fortune 50 company. And to the poster’s surprise, GPT wrote every word.

Millions of dollars in consulting fees
and GPT was doing the consulting.

The moral of the story isn’t “consulting is dead”, or “go start a consulting business and rake in the $$”

It’s that the more AI creates for us, the more we need to get better at directing it.

Which brings us to Microsoft’s “Microsoft 365 Copilot: Wave 2” event.

As part of the event, Microsoft unveiled:

  • Copilot Pages—designed for “multiplayer AI collaboration”, which is sorta like Claude Artifacts meets Google Docs—video here.
  • PowerPoint's Narrative Builder to create instant presentation drafts.
  • Outlook's “Prioritize my inbox” feature, which summarizes the actions needed to take in an email.

And finally, there’s Copilot Agents. Copilot now has an agent builder (which was announced back in May) to help you easily create AI to automate specific tasks that you can @ mention like you would any other coworker (only the agent will actually answer, and not just send a “thumbs up emoji.”)

There’s another dimension to this, too: the work we typically produce for other humans will likely get filtered by an AI layer before other humans ever see it.

Take Apple’s new iOS18 update, for example. Right now, if you update, AI is able to read your emails, and present you with a summary, like so:

Shows a range of summaries for the same email, to illustrate the point.

Going forward, writing good emails won’t just be about the copy; it’ll be about how you direct the AI summary to display the real message you want to convey—in the case of Prioritize my Inbox, that message is: “Actually answer my question before EOD plz!”

Which AI feature are you most excited about?

AI-powered collaborative workspaces.

Instant presentation drafts.

Smart email prioritization.

Custom AI agents for specific tasks.

I'm not excited, I'm worried about AI taking over.
