Welcome, humans.

Someone made a trailer for a french film featuring all the “main characters” in Silicon Valley and U.S. politics. It features “Eloi Musque”, “Jack D’Orsay”, “Don De Trompette“, “Camille Harisse”, and many more…

To put my 637-day Duolingo streak to good use, the video is “c'est épique!” Check it below:

Images from Midjourney, video in Runway, and music from Udio.

If french cinema isn’t your thing, there’s also this viral light saber battle (created via MiniMax) between Darth Maul and Darth Vader. Fair warning—it’s not what you think!

Here’s what you need to know about AI today:

  • Strawberry will launch in September, and early reviews are in.
  • Deepseek-V2 launched as new open-source "top model".
  • 75% of new Y Combinator startups are now focused on AI.
  • iPhone's Visual Intelligence is actually enabled by Google.

Strawberry is coming sometime in the next two weeks… here’s what to expect:

If media companies had “hot streaks” like musicians, The Information’s “AI Agenda” would be in its Beyoncé 2003-2013 era.

They're dropping AI news bangers left and right—and Tuesday’s report is their "Crazy In Love" (cue the music).

The headline? Strawberry, OpenAI’s most advanced AI model, is coming in September. Here’s what you need to know:

  1. Strawberry will probably join the menu of different models that you can choose to use inside ChatGPT.
  2. Strawberry thinks for 10-20 seconds before responding, using built-in “Chain-of-thought” prompting (we explain this more as part of our Claude guide).
  3. It can only create text to start—no images yet.

Pros:

  • It’ll be better at writing code and solving math problems.
  • It's not afraid to ask for clarity, and will produce less errors.
  • For subjective tasks, it'll be like having a personal business strategist.

Cons:

  1. That 10-20 second wait? It can feel like watching paint dry, and even sometimes takes that long for simple questions.
  2. Early reviewers say answers are only “slightly better” and not worth the wait.
  3. Its memory is a bit fuzzy—it might forget your past chats and preferences, despite promises to the contrary.

And pricing? Still TBD. The Information seems to think access to Strawberry might create another paid tier. OpenAI considered prices up to $2K (probably enterprise pricing), but that seems steep given early feedback.

Expect usage rate limits you can bypass with a pricier subscription. Perhaps $30 or $45? (just our guess, not based on any reporting).

Oh, and whatever OpenAI decides? It’ll probably influence Claude and Google's pricing, too. So buckle up!

Who actually needs Strawberry? Power users valuing precision over speed, IMO. Think data scientists, devs, marketers, and researchers. Companies tackling complex problems might also find Strawberry's features worth the investment (despite the longer wait times).
